Marine Care Tips
Recommended Handling of Clear Vinyl Sheets
- Always store drums of sheets standing on end in a cool, dry area on wooden pallets above the floor.
- Rotate the usage of drums, being certain to use the oldest material first.
- Never pull sheets out of the drums, as this will cause scratching across the width of the sheet.
- Unpack drums by removing top lid and then standing drum upside down on a large, clean table. Slip the base of drum up and off the rolled up sheets. Then carefully lay the rolled sheets, packed in paper, down on their sides and unroll. Remove the desired amount of sheets and promptly reroll the balance, stand on end and slip the drum base back on. Turn the drum over as it goes back on the pallet and be certain to insert a rolled upcardboard filler to prevent the remaining sheets in the drum from "falling in."
- Always use lightweight gloves when handling sheets to prevent finger marks. The sheets scratch and mar easily from improper care in handling.
- Never leave sheets laying flat in a stack for any length of time. The accumulated weight of them will cause the unevenness of the paper interleafing to transfer the surface of the polished sheets and leave a paper mark-off (cold embossing-orange peel), which will make the sheet look distorted. If the paper impression is slight, it usually disappears from aging when the sheet is relaxed and exposed to the heat of the sun. A deeper impression however, may not disappear.
Recommended Handling of Sea Clear
- A masking film is used on both sides of Sea Clear sheet or roll to prevent scratching during shipment and fabrication.
- For the best protection against abrasion damage to Sea Clear rolls, always store in and dispense from the specially designed box.
- No special tools or equipment are necessary to work with Sea Clear. Just cut and sew with your existing equipment.
- Don't forget to peel mask off when job is completed.
- The creative use of Sea Clear provides a clearer, longer lasting solution for marine or other window applications that do not require roll-up. Sea Clear is not appropriate for traditional roll-up applications.
Care and Cleaning Instructions for Aqualon® and Triton® Fabrics
Proper maintenance will extend the life of the fabric. Routine care is quite simple, but
certain procedures are recommended.
- Keep dirt, leaves and other debris from accumulating on the fabric surface. Washing down with a garden hose on a bright sunny day is recommended about once a month.
- To remove dirt from either side of the material, use a soft brush and a mild soap solution (such as Ivory®). Do not use bleach. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and let dry completely before storing or rolling. (If accidental tears occur, repair them as soon as possible.)
- Do not store or roll up while wet. Be sure to clean and dry before storage. Mildew can grow during storage if moisture is present.
- Avoid cleaning in commercial car wash. Do not steam or pressure wash. If used for a boat cover, keep cover secure while trailering.
