Ultra Tef-Gel eliminates metal corrosion by eliminating electrolytes from entering the interface of the metallic surfaces. Tef-Gel marine lubricant paste contains 40% PTFE powder and 0% volatile solvents, silicones, or petroleum solvents to evaporate, which would leave voids for electrolytes to be drawn into. When both surfaces are coated and mated with Tef-Gel, there are no voids for electrolytes (saltwater) to be drawn in over extended periods of time.
Thread galling is a common yet seldom understood problem with threaded fasteners. Galling can occur when the surfaces of male and female threads are placed under heavy pressure. Stainless-steel fasteners are particularly susceptible to thread galling, although it also occurs in other alloys, such as aluminum and titanium.
